Southeastern
Academy is an independent, coeducational day school for students
from Junior Kindergarten through Grade Nine.
Founded
in 1990
as a non profit corporation, it
operates under the
direction
of a twelve
member Board of Directors. Southeastern Academy is a member of the
North
Carolina
Association
of Independent
Schools and
is
a presently
pursuing
accreditation
by
both
the Southern
Association of Colleges
and
Schools
and
the Southern
Association of
Independent
Schools. |

Statement of
Philosophy |
|
|
Beginning with
the cultivation of a positive attitude toward learning and the
development of fundamental skills, the curriculum builds to a broad
experience in the liberal arts, and to a strong foundation for
independent learning. |

Beyond The Basics |
|
|
Students at all
grade levels are instructed in Spanish, Computers, Music, Theater,
Media, Physical Education, Art and Character Education. A wide
variety of on and off campus enrichment activities are provided at
all grade levels to extend learning outside the classroom. Students
are also invited to participate in a competitive interscholastic
athletic program which includes soccer, basketball, golf and
cheerleading.

Location |

Southeastern
Academy is located on NC 41 N in Robeson County, seven miles east of
Lumberton and sixteen miles west of Elizabethtown. Our
historic school building was the former Smiths School. |

Transportation |

Southeastern
Academy operates a bus service to and from Lumberton. |
|

Food Services |
|
|
Southeastern
Academy does not operate a full service cafeteria; however, students
may bring from home any microwavable item to be heated and served by
a staff member. A limited number of lunch items may also be
purchased in the cafeteria for students that desire this service.
Snacks, ice cream, milk and juice may also be purchased. Pizza is
offered by advance order on Tuesdays. |

Parental
Involvement |
|
|
Parental
involvement is recognized as essential to successful learning at
Southeastern Academy. The staff strives to maintain open lines
of communication with parents. Parent conferences are
scheduled in the fall and spring to set goals, report progress, and
make cooperative plans. Report cards are provided four times
per year. Narrative progress reports are sent home between report
card periods. Teachers in grades Junior Kindergarten through
grade three send home weekly class newsletters. Parents of
fourth through ninth graders may expect newsletters as needed.

Academic Standing/Standardized Test Scores
|
|
|
Southeastern Academy administers the California
Achievement Test to students in grades three, six, and nine each
spring. Academy students consistently score in the top 20% of
the nation’s students in math and reading. On end of grade and
end of course tests administered each spring, all Academy students
