Jr. Beta Club at SeA

Southeastern Academy Charter School's student body is invited to participate in the National Junior Beta Club in grades four through eight by demonstrating high scholastic achievement, honorable character and leading others through service projects.  Each January, students are inducted into the club based on a 93% core academic subject area grade average and teacher recommendations.  Once joining the club, students lead various service projects within the school community and participate in the annual North Carolina Junior Beta Club Convention.  Southeastern Academy is proud to honor 60% of our eligible students with this exclusive membership.

  • May Meeting - Beta Points Logs are due May 8th.

  • Beta Celebration Brunch - We will be holding a celebration during middle school resource on May 20th. We will celebrate the accomplishments of our Betas and hand out club awards.  Due to the 9:30 a.m. time of the celebration this year we will be enjoying pastries, juice, and breakfast/brunch items. If you would like to donate towards the cost food and drink, please send any donations directly to me between now and April 18th.  All donations, would be greatly appreciated and anything left over will go into our Beta fund for future Beta events and rewards.

  • 8th Grade Beta Parents Only - If you would like your child to be recognized as a Beta Club member with an honors stole during the 8th grade graduation and awards ceremony on May 23rd, you may purchase one through me for $16. The stoles will be gold and have the Jr. Beta Club logo on them. ( See Below).  Money for the stoles is due April 18th and checks can be made payable to SeA.  Students will be able to wear them during graduation, and the awards ceremony to honor the hard work that goes into being a Beta.

  • Elections - With inductions being held in April this year, instead of January, and Spring Break being so late we are going to hold Beta Club Officer Elections at the beginning of next year.  I will be discussing this with the club this week.

Beta Convention 2019 Wrap-up

SeA Betas took the annual Jr. Beta Convention by storm this year.  Jasmine Corbie, 8th Grade, finished out her year of representing Jr. Betas across the state as the Jr. Beta Club State Vice President with all the eloquence and hard work that has defined her time in the position.   Madelyn Evans, 7th Grade, campaigned tirelessly with her fellow club members and that tenacity paid off Wednesday morning when she was elected and sworn in as our new NC Jr. Beta Club State Secretary!

The rest of our club made us proud in various academic, engineering, and artistic competitions throughout Tuesday.  All of the students gave their all to their events and represented our school brilliantly.  We had 4 students place in a total of 5 events.

  • Gracie Parker  - 3rd in both Digital Art and Creative Writing

  • William Walters - 3rd in Woodworking

  • Charley Whitley - 4th in Speech

  • Kaleigh Graham - 3rd in Photography

Congratulations to all our Betas for a wonderful showing at convention this year!  You have all made Southeastern Academy proud!
